Vision Statement
The Kodály Society of Canada will continue
to serve an important role in music education in Canada in the 21st
Century. That role will be to:
- Advocate quality music education which includes:
1. Quality repertoire drawing on the best in
folk and composed music
2. Music literacy and skill development
3. Development of individual musicianship through singing, movement,
listening, reading, writing and creating
4. Inclusiveness reflecting the cultural heritage of the school
community
5. Social development through group and individual self-expression
6. Personal growth through artistic performance
- In service music educators through assistance to the branches,
through publications and the website
- Facilitate an evolving approach and adapting learning experiences to
contemporary teaching trends (collaborative learning and assessment)
- Continue to provide a clear focus on the philosophy for Kodály-inspired
music education
- Through its membership, strive to present good models of
"teacher-musicians" to students, parents and the community at large
- Support music industry initiative promoting the production and
publication of quality music materials that are produced as a result of
a genuine musical impulse
